For 2024, Fraport Greece achieved a significant milestone by recording an impressive increase, welcoming over 36 million passengers at the 14 regional airports under its management. Specifically, passenger traffic increased by 6.4% compared to 2023, handling approximately 2.1 million additional passengers. Investments in infrastructure
In its efforts to support and strengthen the domestic tourism sector, Fraport Greece consistently invests in the infrastructure of the 14 regional airports, allocating annual amounts of up to €50 million for the upgrade and improvement of their facilities.
Additionally, €146 million have been allocated for the renovation and reconstruction of runways to enhance the already high safety standards. These projects, part of the Concession Agreement, are included in a broader large-scale program implemented by the company to meet the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) new safety standards. At the same time, Fraport Greece is planning additional investments amounting to €200 million, aimed at increasing the capacity of the airports in Kos "Ippokratis", Corfu "Ioannis Kapodistrias", Mykonos, and Santorini. These airports are nearing their capacity limits due to significant growth in passenger traffic, making further infrastructure enhancements essential.
In this context, Mr. Alexander Zinell, CEO of Fraport Greece, mentioned: “2024 has been a year of significant achievements for Fraport Greece. This year, we welcomed an unprecedented 36 million passengers across our 14 regional airports, marking a new record for the third consecutive year.
