The 3rd Annual Conference on Compliance with the Regulatory Requirements of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was successfully held

Continuous compliance with the EASA Regulatory Requirements for the 14 Regional Airports managed and operated by Fraport Greece

For the third consecutive year, the annual conference focusing on compliance with the regulatory requirements set forth by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was convened.

The subject of the conference was the review of Fraport Greece's progress in achieving regulatory compliance in the areas of organization, operations and infrastructure of airports, under the guidance of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA). At the same time, a clear reference was made to the operational challenges and the criticality of auditing regulatory compliance issues, according to EASA, especially in a period during which infrastructure upgrade projects included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan are implemented at the airports managed by Fraport Greece.

During the conference, the Hellenic Plan for Aviation Safety was presented, which was drawn up by the HCAA, to strengthen aviation safety. Extensive reference was also made to the developments of the European Regulatory Framework for the safe operations of airports and aviation safety.

Finally, a discussion was also held on the combined role of adapting airports to the development of technology, with the reinforcement of the already high level of security provided.

This year's conference was held with the broad participation of the HCAA: Dr. Christos Tsitouras, HCAA Governor, Georgios Iliopoulos, Head of the Office of the HCAA Governor, Aggelos Beligiannis, Director of the HCAA ATM/ANS Aerodromes Oversight Division, Vasilios Vasilaros, Head of the HCAA Aerodromes Regulation, Oversight and Certification Section, Sarantos Psykakos, Head of the HCAA Charts Obstacles and Heliports Regulation, Oversight and Certification Section, Georgios Kasimatis, Head of the HCAA Safety Management and Occurrence Reporting Section, Emmanuel Vailas, representative of the HCAA Charts Obstacles and Heliports Regulation, Oversight and Certification Section and representatives of Fraport Greece from the Operations and Technical Division.

Dr. Christos Tsitouras, HCAA Governor, mentioned in his opening remarks: "The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, seeking to maintain the highest possible level of aviation safety at all Greek airports, has created an effective system of surveillance of the aviation market, as indicated by the particularly positive results of the recent audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Greece. We believe that the 3rd Annual Conference on compliance with the EASA Regulatory Requirements  will be a platform for fruitful dialogue, highlighting at the same time the significant impact that the completion of infrastructure projects will have on the continuous improvement of the tourism product, for the benefit of the Greek economy and local communities."

Mr. Panagiotis Spyratos, Chief Operations Officer, Fraport Greece, announcing the opening of the conference, said, among other things: "The main pillar of this conference is the good cooperation of the two parties with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experience, and the joint development of axis of work for this year, ensuring, with continuity and consistency, aviation safety. Mrs. Ioanna Kouri, EASA Compliance Manager for Fraport Greece, focused on the importance of the conference, stating, among other things: "The annual conference on matters of compliance with EASA's regulatory requirements is an institution, which proves in practice the continuous monitoring of developments in matters of compliance with the regulatory requirements and their binding application, both in the operations and infrastructures of the 14 Regional Airports."

Fraport Greece operates the airports of Aktio, Zakynthos, Thessaloniki, Kavala, Kefalonia, Corfu, Kos, Mykonos, Mytilini, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, and Chania.
